Hi why do Bob Bradshaw feed efx using ” Y” splitcables from mono to the two inputs on the efx. instead of just use the one input of the efx as would be most common approach using a mixer in a studio?

I could be way off on this one but: Some effects processors require a stereo input in order to function in true stereo. Most gear will have the input jacks normalled so that if only one jack is used it splits it between both AD converters (which is why some processors will specify a mono input), but I have heard of a few cases in older gear where this isn’t done internally.

So based on that my guess is that Bob either does it because of old habits, or just to maintain consistency in his racks.

Feel free to flame away if I’m wrong though…
